We are currently working on an MX5 conversion that uses a Meiden 61kw Motor (84bhp – 193Nm of Torque) adapted to the original MX5 gearbox. This simplifies the installation and removes the need for custom driveshafts. The motor will be controlled by a Toyota Prius inverter that will have a PCB fitted from the guys on the Openinverter forum. This should allow us to push the motor beyond its standard power output – we are aiming for a safe 150bhp.

The gearbox adapter for the mx5 uses the original MX5 clutch plate and a Suzuki Jimny clutch plate mounted to a custom machined coupler.
